Dr. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin, a chartered accountant and former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Wa Municipal Assembly, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr. Moomin’s entry into the race adds to growing competition for key national executive positions within the party as preparations begin for upcoming internal elections.

The former MCE is widely regarded as an experienced administrator with a strong background in financial management and public service. Supporters say his expertise in accounting and governance makes him a strong candidate for a position that plays a critical role in managing the party’s finances and resource mobilization efforts.

In announcing his bid, Dr. Moomin emphasized the need for effective financial stewardship, transparency, and organizational strengthening as the NPP seeks to reposition itself for future political contests.

Political analysts believe the race for National Treasurer will be one of the most closely watched contests within the party, given the strategic importance of the office in fundraising, budgeting, and supporting party activities across the country.

With more aspirants expected to declare in the coming months, the contest is expected to generate significant interest among party delegates and grassroots supporters nationwide.
