The United States and Iran have approved a detailed roadmap to reach a final comprehensive agreement within 60 days, following constructive high-level talks mediated by Qatar and Pakistan in Switzerland.
The agreement includes the formation of working groups on sanctions relief, nuclear oversight, maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and de-escalation efforts in Lebanon. A “High Level Committee” has also been established to oversee implementation.
Vice President JD Vance, who led the US delegation, described the talks as “positive,” while Iranian officials stressed that core issues such as ballistic missiles remain highly contentious. Both sides have agreed to temporary sanctions waivers during the negotiation period.
Despite the diplomatic progress, the recent US strikes have cast a shadow over the process, with Iran warning that continued military actions could lead to the suspension of talks.
