Due to the low prestige and less emphasise that we give to blue collar jobs, there’s been a massive push in recent to get nearly every kid who leaves SHS to enter universities. This can result in many problems. University is expensive and can put families in debt but at the same time, employment for graduates is not guaranteed resulting in a lot of families seemingly having wasted precious funds to secure higher education when other options like technical education and job training.
