UMaT Moves to Expand Reach with Proposed Ahafo Kenyasi Campus

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) has announced plans to establish a new campus in Ahafo Kenyasi, a move expected to expand access to higher education and support skills development in Ghana’s mining and resource-rich communities.

A delegation from the university paid a courtesy call on local authorities and stakeholders to discuss the proposed project and explore areas of collaboration.

University officials indicated that the expansion aligns with UMaT’s vision of increasing access to specialized education and research opportunities in mining, engineering, technology, and related fields.

The proposed campus is expected to create educational opportunities for students within the Ahafo enclave while contributing to local economic development through job creation and infrastructure growth.

Traditional leaders and community representatives welcomed the proposal and pledged their support for the initiative.

Education experts believe the establishment of a UMaT campus in Ahafo Kenyasi could significantly strengthen human capital development and provide industry-relevant training for young people in the region.

The project is also expected to deepen partnerships between academia, industry, and local communities, particularly within Ghana’s mining sector.

If implemented, the new campus would represent a major milestone in UMaT’s expansion strategy and further enhance its role in producing skilled professionals for national development.
