The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has officially opened the Ghana Trade House in Philadelphia, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen trade relations with the United States and expand market opportunities for Ghanaian businesses.
The new Trade House is expected to serve as a strategic hub for promoting Ghanaian products, facilitating business partnerships, and increasing exports to one of Ghana’s most important international markets.
Speaking at the inauguration, GEPA officials said the initiative forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to enhance the global visibility of Ghanaian goods while supporting exporters seeking to penetrate the competitive North American market.
The Trade House will showcase a wide range of Ghana-made products, including processed foods, cocoa products, textiles, garments, handicrafts, cosmetics, agricultural produce, and other value-added exports. It will also provide market intelligence, business networking opportunities, and trade support services for Ghanaian exporters.
According to GEPA, the facility is designed to strengthen commercial ties between Ghana and the United States by connecting local producers with importers, distributors, retailers, and investors across North America.
Officials noted that the United States remains a key destination for Ghanaian exports under trade arrangements such as the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), and the establishment of the Trade House is expected to help businesses maximise opportunities available under the agreement.
The Authority believes the new centre will contribute to increased export earnings, create employment opportunities, and encourage more Ghanaian companies to adopt internationally competitive production standards.
Business leaders attending the launch welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step towards expanding Ghana’s commercial footprint abroad and positioning locally manufactured products in global value chains.
GEPA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting exporters through market development programmes, trade exhibitions, capacity-building initiatives, and international partnerships aimed at driving sustainable export-led economic growth.
The opening of the Ghana Trade House in Philadelphia is expected to strengthen Ghana’s presence in the US market while reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a leading exporter of high-quality African products.
