Ghana Immigration Service Repatriates 105 Foreign Nationals Following Anti-Trafficking Operation.

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has repatriated 105 foreign nationals to their respective countries following a successful intelligence-led operation in Asankragwa, located in the Western Region.

According to officials, the operation led to the rescue of 112 individuals believed to have been trafficked into Ghana under suspicious circumstances. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were lured into the country through false promises of employment and better economic opportunities before finding themselves in exploitative situations.

The GIS stated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking, illegal migration, and transnational organized crime. Immigration officers, working alongside other security agencies, conducted the exercise after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of the suspected victims in the area.

Following screening and verification processes, 105 of the rescued foreign nationals were safely returned to their countries of origin. Authorities indicated that investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend individuals behind the alleged trafficking network.

The Ghana Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and safeguarding the country’s borders against criminal activities. Officials also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment schemes or movements that may be linked to human trafficking.

Human rights advocates have welcomed the operation, describing it as a significant step in the fight against modern-day slavery and the exploitation of migrants across the region.

The GIS has assured the public that it will continue to strengthen collaboration with local and international partners to dismantle trafficking syndicates and protect victims from abuse and exploitation.
