Akome, Volta Region, July 7, 2026 – The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ho West, Francis Proffer Dusey, has appealed to residents of Akome and surrounding communities to remain calm ahead of a planned demonstration over delays in the construction of the Akome Bridge.
Speaking during a community engagement, the DCE acknowledged the frustrations of residents who rely on the bridge for transportation, farming and commercial activities. He assured the public that government remains committed to delivering the project.
According to him, consultations are ongoing with the relevant agencies and contractors to address outstanding challenges affecting the commencement of the project. He urged residents to allow the engagement process to continue while government works toward a lasting solution.
Community leaders have maintained that the bridge is critical to improving access to schools, healthcare facilities and markets, especially during the rainy season when movement becomes difficult.
The DCE emphasized that peaceful dialogue remains the best avenue for resolving concerns and called on residents to avoid any actions that could disrupt public order.
