The Ketu South Municipal Health Directorate has expressed serious concern over the increasing number of new HIV infections in the municipality.
The Municipal Health Director, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, revealed that Ketu South has recorded a worrying spike in HIV cases in recent months, particularly among young people.
He attributed the rise to low risk perception, multiple sexual partners, and inadequate access to education on prevention methods.
“We are seeing more young people testing positive. This is very alarming. We need intensified education and increased access to testing and prevention services,” the Director warned.
The Directorate has called for more support from stakeholders, NGOs, and the government to scale up HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns and make antiretroviral drugs more accessible in the area.
