President John Dramani Mahama has continued his official state visit to Belarus with a series of high-level engagements aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.
As part of his visit, President Mahama toured the historic Brest Hero Fortress, one of Belarus’ most significant national monuments dedicated to the defenders who resisted Nazi invasion during World War II. The Ghanaian leader was accompanied by senior Belarusian officials and members of his delegation as he paid tribute to the site’s historical importance.
Following the tour, the President was hosted by the Governor of Brest Region, who welcomed the Ghanaian delegation and highlighted opportunities for greater cooperation between Ghana and Belarus in trade, agriculture, manufacturing, education, and technology.
The visit also precedes crucial talks between President Mahama and his Belarusian counterpart, President Alexander Lukashenko, where discussions are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding investment opportunities, and exploring new areas of partnership.
Government officials say the meetings form part of Ghana’s broader strategy to diversify international partnerships and attract foreign investment to support economic growth and industrial development.
President Mahama’s visit is expected to yield agreements in several sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure development, energy, and technical cooperation. Analysts believe closer collaboration with Belarus could provide Ghana with access to new technologies and expertise, particularly in mechanized agriculture and industrial production.
The state visit marks a significant milestone in relations between the two nations and reflects Ghana’s commitment to strengthening ties with countries across Eastern Europe.
As discussions continue, both governments have expressed optimism that the visit will pave the way for stronger economic cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships in the years ahead.
