kwanta, Oti Region, July 7, 2026 – The Ghana Army has officially launched Exercise Starlight Stretch II at Nkwanta in the Oti Region as part of efforts to enhance operational readiness and strengthen collaboration among security agencies.
The three-week exercise brings together personnel from various military units and other security institutions to improve joint operational capabilities, tactical preparedness and responses to emerging security threats.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, military commanders stated that the exercise forms part of the Ghana Army’s annual training program and is designed to sharpen the skills of troops in both conventional military operations and internal security duties.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South welcomed the troops and assured them of the Assembly’s support throughout the exercise, expressing confidence that the training would contribute to maintaining peace and security in the municipality.
Military authorities also urged all participating personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline and safety throughout the training period.
Exercise Starlight Stretch II will be conducted simultaneously in Nkwanta and Bawku and is expected to strengthen coordination between the Ghana Armed Forces and other state security agencies.
