GHS, Jacaranda Deploy AI Tool to Improve Maternal Healthcare

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has partnered with Jacaranda Health to launch an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool aimed at improving maternal healthcare services across the country.

The initiative seeks to enhance the quality of care provided to pregnant women by equipping healthcare workers with AI-driven support for clinical decision-making, patient monitoring and timely interventions during pregnancy and childbirth.

According to GHS, the digital platform will help identify high-risk pregnancies early, improve communication between healthcare providers and expectant mothers, and strengthen the overall delivery of maternal health services.

Health officials believe the technology will contribute to reducing maternal and newborn deaths by enabling faster responses to complications and ensuring women receive accurate health information throughout their pregnancy.

The partnership forms part of Ghana’s broader efforts to leverage digital innovation to improve healthcare delivery and achieve better maternal and child health outcomes.

Speaking at the launch, officials described the initiative as a major step toward modernizing Ghana’s healthcare system and expanding access to quality maternal care, particularly in underserved communities.

The AI tool is expected to complement existing maternal health programmes while supporting healthcare professionals with real-time information and evidence-based recommendations.

Stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that technology-driven solutions will help strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system and improve outcomes for mothers and newborns nationwide.
