EOCO Traces GH¢1.5 Million Property Payment in Ongoing Adu-Boahene Trial

Investigators from the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) have told the court that they successfully traced a GH¢1.5 million payment linked to properties allegedly associated with former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene.

Testifying before the court, an EOCO investigator explained that financial investigators followed a series of bank transactions involving company accounts before identifying the payment made to Mayfair Garden Estate, where some of the disputed properties are located.

According to the prosecution, transaction records obtained from financial institutions and the estate developers formed part of the evidence gathered during investigations into the alleged acquisition of assets connected to Adu-Boahene and his wife.

Investigators stated that the GH¢1.5 million transfer originated from corporate accounts before passing through multiple financial transactions, eventually reaching the estate developers.

The prosecution argues that the financial trail provides crucial evidence in establishing how the properties under investigation were acquired.

Lawyers representing the accused, however, continue to challenge aspects of the prosecution’s evidence, maintaining that the transactions were lawful and insisting their clients remain innocent until proven guilty.

The trial forms part of EOCO’s broader investigations into allegations of financial misconduct, illicit asset acquisition, and abuse of public office.

Financial analysts say the case highlights the increasing use of forensic accounting, digital banking records, and financial intelligence in investigating complex economic crimes in Ghana.

The court is expected to continue hearing testimony from additional witnesses as the high-profile trial progresses.
