NPP Leaders Head to EOCO Headquarters Over Arrest of Miracles Aboagye

Senior officials and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) converged at the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following the arrest of the party’s Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah “Miracles” Aboagye, demanding clarity over his detention.

The arrest sparked widespread reactions within the opposition party, with several NPP executives and Members of Parliament describing the development as politically motivated and calling on EOCO to respect the rights of the party official throughout the investigative process.

A delegation of party leaders arrived at the EOCO offices to seek information about the circumstances surrounding Aboagye’s arrest and to offer him legal and moral support.

Party officials insisted that due process must be followed, emphasizing that every citizen is entitled to fair treatment under the law regardless of political affiliation.

Supporters gathered outside the EOCO premises, with some chanting party slogans while urging authorities to either formally charge Aboagye or release him if there was insufficient evidence to justify his continued detention.

EOCO has yet to issue a detailed public statement outlining the reasons for the arrest, although officials indicated that investigations are ongoing.

Legal analysts say the case is likely to attract significant public attention given Aboagye’s prominent role within the NPP and the broader political implications of the development.

The incident has reignited debate over the independence of state investigative institutions, with the NPP urging the government to ensure that law enforcement agencies operate without political influence.

Meanwhile, the party has assured its members that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide the necessary legal assistance to its Communications Director.

As investigations continue, political observers expect further statements from both EOCO and the NPP regarding the circumstances of the arrest and any subsequent legal proceedings.
