Residents of Wassa Akropong were left in shock after a moving truck suddenly burst into flames while travelling through the township, causing panic among motorists and pedestrians.
Eyewitnesses say thick smoke began pouring from the vehicle before flames quickly engulfed the engine compartment, forcing the driver to stop and evacuate immediately.
The Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control before it spread to nearby vehicles or buildings.
Although the truck suffered extensive damage, no deaths or injuries were reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have resulted from a mechanical fault or electrical malfunction, though fire investigators are continuing to examine the exact cause.
Authorities have advised commercial drivers to regularly service their vehicles and inspect electrical systems before embarking on long-distance journeys to reduce the risk of similar incidents.
