A total of 33,799 delegates are expected to cast their ballots in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) constituency executive elections across the Eastern Region on Saturday, July 11, as the party continues its nationwide internal reorganization exercise.
The elections will be held in all 33 constituencies in the region, with delegates voting to elect executives who will steer the affairs of the party at the constituency level over the next four years.
Voting is scheduled to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at designated polling centers across the region under the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC).
The Eastern Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission, Nana Aduro Numapau Awuah, disclosed that preparations for the polls are at an advanced stage, assuring delegates and party members of a transparent and credible electoral process.
According to him, 11 constituencies will hold elections for all 11 constituency executive positions, while the remaining constituencies will conduct contests for between two and 10 positions, depending on whether some candidates are running unopposed.
Mr. Awuah indicated that ballot papers and other electoral materials would be ready ahead of the polls to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. He also urged all contestants to abide by the party’s electoral guidelines and channel any grievances through the appropriate election committees rather than resorting to actions that could disrupt the process.
He further appealed to journalists and media organizations to verify election-related information with designated electoral officials before publication to ensure accurate and responsible reporting of the results.
